It has been years since the last entry level gaming wheel has came out in the market from ThrustMaster. Recently, everything changed with the latest ThrustMaster T248. It's a big hype in the sim racing world. BUT is it really worth the price and quality, or is it just the looks?

ThrustMaster and their Sim Racing Wheels

ThrustMaster is well-known in sim racing for their mix gear and belt driven gaming wheels, mostly called as belt-driven wheels. It was founded in the United States in 1990 specialized in the development of high-end controllers. Many years later in 1999, they became one of the world leaders in racing wheels and controllers for PCs and also created the first replica of a Ferrari® racing wheel: the FERRARI 360 MODENA racing wheel. Later on, there were a few more replicas of other Ferrari wheels created until 2010, when the T500 RS racing wheel and pedal set was released under official license from Gran Turismo® 5 and PlayStation®3 guaranteeing a unique and realistic immersion in games. Since then, ThrustMaster has given more time on the car sim racing accessories development, thus creating more low-end and top-tier gaming wheels for consoles and PCs targeting at all range of customers.

Entry-level / Low budget Wheels

Racing games are fun, but the peripherals to make you feel the car in game isn't that friendly to your pocket. Many racing wheels and related accessories are very expensive with the cost that you can buy a brand new car at the same price. Not everyone is that fortunate to spend money like rain, but everyone wants to feel the gain in the game, so the solution is the wallet friendly price that's reachable by most racing gamers. Low-end ones are called with respect as entry-level. They do perform well enough to make you feel more engaged in the game. ThrustMaster has made a few fine entry-level belt-driven wheels before 2020, such as T150, TMX or the higher priced and well preferred T300 RS. These wheels have good rotation angle, fine force feedback and somewhat smooth realistic turns. Do note that not all wheels come with good pedal sets. Some are very cheap and plasticy with little to no force required in braking.
